What is Rice Husk Ash?

Rice husk ash (RHA) is an abundantly available and renewable agriculture by product from rice milling in the rice-producing countries. It has the highest proportion of silica content among all plant residues.

Rice milling industry generates a lot of rice husk during milling of paddy which comes from the fields. This rice husk is mostly used as a fuel in the boilers for processing of paddy. Rice husk is also used as a fuel for power generation.

Rice husk ash (RHA) is about 25% by weight of rice husk when burnt in boilers.

The resultant of burning rice husk is either completely burnt or partially burnt which gives colors ranging from white to grey or black. Rice husk ash got a great demand in Civil, Industrial and Agricultural sectors.

It is used as tundish covering material. Carbonated rice husk can protect the liquid steel from oxidation, no harm to ladle lining. Extensive use shows its feature of moderate melting temperature, good absorption ability, perfect insulation, weak sintering degree and no crust.

Rice husk ash (RHA) has been widely used as an insulation powder in steel casting tundish. This is a covering material are available to provide thermal insulation and prevent re-oxidation and absorb impurities from the steel.
A mixture of rice husk ash or fly ash and alkaline solution as a material with binding property, i.e. similar to Portland cement, which it could use as a substitute for bricks, which it’s reducing the cost of producing bricks in the construction materials.
